Spelling Bee Time!

Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since I posted. I know, I know... I should post more often. But guess what? I am not promising anything, lol.

Today, however, I felt inspired to give you all an inside look into what's going on. The kids have been working pretty hard the last week to learn to read. While they aren't reading the New York Times quite yet, I am pretty proud of their progress so far. They are working through sight words (are, is, the, etc.), CVC word (cat, hut, etc.), and some early digraphs (i.e., th, sh, etc.). I will admit they are much further than when I was 5 years old. But who knows - maybe I was dumb.

So, of course, I felt it was time for them to compete. Before you judge, just know that it was a friendly competition; I even 'fixed' the event so that it was a sure thing that they were guaranteed a win ... this time. I gotta keep them motivated, you know? Oh yea, and of course, they got candy at the end — Fun-Dip; one of my childhood faves.
